Ronald R Rutherford

Ronald R. Rutherford, 76 of Amherst, Ohio died Tuesday evening, September 18, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, Ohio. He was born to the late Lena ( nee: Cathard) and Richard Lee Rutherford on June 3, 1942 in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Rutherford served in the US Air Force in the 11th Strategic Aerospace Wing. He moved in 1965 from Pennsylvania to Lorain County where he has made his home.

Mr. Rutherford was employed for thirty one years as a conductor for Lake Terminal Railroad, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Murray Ridge Church of God, Elyria, Ohio where he proudly plowed the parking area during the winter season. Mr. Rutherford enjoyed camping, playing cards and going to flee markets. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mr. Rutherford is survived by his wife, Betty Joan (nee: Breeding) Rutherford to whom he was married for fifty three years, his sons, Clarence R. (Karen S.) Rutherford of Paw Paw, Michigan and Richard L. (Jennifer B.) Rutherford of Cleveland, Tennessee, his daughters, Deborah Ann (Artie) Crudo of Cape Coral, Florida and Kathy Rutherford of Amherst, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 11 AM until 1 PM in the Murray Ridge Church of God, 7942 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035 where services will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Chad Britt officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio with follow military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Murray Ridge Church of God.
