Richard Joseph Ward, Jr. 53 of Lorain, Ohio died in the Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain on Sunday, May 17, 2015 as a result of unexpected circumstances. He was born on November 17, 1961 in Painesville, Ohio to the late Rosemary (nee: Racz) and Richard Joseph Ward. Mr. Ward graduated from Riverside High School in Painesville Twp., Ohio where he grew up. He was a member of the civil air patrol as a young boy. Mr. Ward also resided in Perry, Madison and Chesterland, Ohio before moving to Lorain in 2005 where he made his home with Tom E. Hallis, Jr. for the remainder of his life. He was employed as a carpenter and excelled in carpet laying, ceramic tile installations and wood and laminate flooring installations. Mr. Ward was a very handy man who had a passion for cooking and gardening. With his big heart, omnipresent smile and congenial personality, he would always make people laugh and have a good time. In his leisure time, Mr. Ward enjoyed playing computer games and keeping in touch with his many friends on the computer. He is survived by his best friend, Tom E. Hallis, Jr. of Lorain, his sister, Sheila (Dale) Lewis of Painesville, his two nephews, Eric and Andrew Takacs of Painesville, several uncles, aunts, cousins, his dog, Chako and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his sister, Karen L. Ward. Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 6 PM until 9 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052 where funeral services will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
