Paul N. Baxter

Paul N. Baxter 88, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 at Golden Acres. He was born September 18, 1924 in Cleveland, Oh. Paul lived in Lorain for 62 years moving from Ohio University at Athens, to Lorain, for a 34 year teaching career. Paul served three and a half years in the U.S Army Air Corps during WWII, graduated from Ohio University in February of 1950 - to employment in Lorain elementary schools-Lincoln & Washington, for 34 years, retiring in spring of 1983. Paul was an active member of First Congregational Church for 62 years, as usher, teacher and senior Supper Club member, enjoying many activities. He was an active roller skater-all his life, and a very dedicated gardener and reader. Summer vacations were dedicated to his hand drawing as well as visiting families in Florida, California, New York and many closer local areas. In free home time-Paul was a very talented and busy hand-carver of many hundreds of truly beautiful wooden lapel size pins for family, friends and Bazaars.-for 17 years. Paul was preceded in death by son Thomas Scott in 2006, parents Jim and Thelma Baxter, brothers Ronnie and Jack and sisters Betty and Marilyn. Paul is survived by a loving family, Joanne, his wife of 64 years, 3 sons David (Donna), Jeff (Joanne ), Andy, and 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren . Family will receive visitors on Thursday January 24th at Walter A. Frey Funeral Home 700 W. Erie Ave., Lorain 44052 from 4 PM until 7 PM. Graveside services and burial will be Friday, January 25th at 2 PM in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, Ohio with The Rev. Mr. Bruce Tumblin of St. Paul's UMC, Montpelier.
