Neil E. 'Jack' Summers, 76 of Lorain, Ohio died Friday, March 8, 2013 in the EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, Ohio following a short illness. He was born in Winding Gulf, West Virginia on January 28, 1937 to the late Edra Frances (nee: Powell) and James Perry Summers. Mr. Summers who was known as Neil The Wheel was employed for thirty years as a Test Man for U. S. Steel, Lorain before retiring in 2000. He attended the First Congregational Church, Lorain. Mr. Summers loved spending time and participating in the activities of his children and grandchildren. He liked cutting grass and shoveling snow. Mr. Summers enjoyed painting and taking long walks. He enjoyed spectator sports, especially the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, Kathleen (nee: Fritz) to whom he was married for forty four years, his son, Terry B. (Theresa A.) Summers of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, his daughter, Susan Summers of Lorain, his brother, Richard L. (Jeannette) Summers of Lorain, his sister, Shirley Summers of Beckley, West Virginia, grandchildren, Darren Brake, Andrew Summers and Nathan Summers, three nephews and one niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles and sister, Kay Hollowell. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4 PM until 7 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11 AM in the First Congregational Church, 423 Washington Avenue (at Fourth Street), Lorain, 44052 with The Rev. Mrs. Karen Farthing, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio.
