Mary L. Barnes (nee: Menges), 92 of Lorain, Ohio died Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Sprenger Main Street, Avon Lake, Ohio. She was born to the late Grace E. (nee: Fry) and Harry Menges on May 31, 1920 in Turbotville, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Barnes moved to Lorain at the age of eight. She attended Lorain High School. Mrs. Barnes was a riveter at the bomb plant in Brookpark, Ohio during World War II; she was a licensed cosmetologist. She was a member of the Lighthouse United Methodist Church, Lorain. Mrs. Barnes was a member and past Worthy Matron of Queen City Chapter, No. 66, O. E. S. She was also a fifty year member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the Women's Aux. of the Fraternal Order of the Moose, No. 552, Lorain. Mrs. Barnes is survived by her son, Harry J. (Kathleen) Barnes of Avon Lake, her grandchildren, Brian T. Barnes and Cassandra L. Barnes, both of Lakewood, Ohio and her sister, Laura V. Meredith of Sheffield Lake, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Barnes in 1984, her brother Edward Menges and her sisters, Isabelle (Betty) McHenry, Dorothy Milks and Jean Coupt. Friends will be received on Monday, May 27, 2013 from 4 PM until 6 PM and from 7 PM until 9 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 W. Erie Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052 where Eastern Star services will be Monday at 7:30 PM. By Queen City, No. 66, O. E. S. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10 AM. With Chaplain Mark Telepak of Crossroads Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio.
