Mark Ian Portnick, 63 of Lorain, Ohio died Thursday, November 13, 2014. He was born on December 31, 1950 in Amherst, Ohio. Mr. Portnick was a life long Lorain resident. He graduated from Lorain High School after which he attended LCCC. Mr. Portnick was a former member of the Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue, Lorain. He was actively involved as a volunteer for the local Boy Scouts; he worked with the Red Cross. Mr. Portnick formerly was a member of the Lorain County Sheriff's Auxiliary. He is survived by his sister, Donna L. Livingstone of San Antonio, Texas, his nieces, Lisa (Ron) Davidson and Michelle (Jerry) Merck, all of San Antonio and great nephews, Bramm, Seth, Evan and Jacob. Mr. Portinick was preceded in death by his parents, Melba (nee: Bernstein) Portnick-Henkin and Saul Portnick and his brother, Richard P. Portnick.
