M. Gene Farley

M. Gene Farley, 82 of Lorain, Ohio died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in his home following a brief illness. He was born on August 29, 1934 in Belfry, Kentucky to the late Martha Ellen (nee: Alley) and Arson Henry Farley. Mr. Farley was a 1953 graduate of Belfry High School; he attended Sophomore College and Morehead College in Morehead, Kentucky. Mr. Farley moved from Belfry to Lorain in 1960. He served in the U. S. Navy where he was the recipient of the National Defense Medal. For twenty nine years Mr. Farley was employed in the Fuel & Power Department and Stationary Engineer Department of U. S. Steel, Lorain. He retired on November 13, 1996. Mr. Farley was a member of Black River Masonic Lodge, No. 786, F & AM and the Scottish Rite Society, Valley of Cleveland. He is survived by his wife of fifty nine years Janet Louise (nee: Nelson) Farley to whom he married on September 11, 1955, his sons, Milford Gene (JoAnne) Farley II of Kansas City, Missouri and Todd Sean (Melissa) Farley of Amherst, Ohio, his sisters, Naomi Fannin of Ashland, Kentucky and Janice Y. Ferrell of Arizona and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Everett L., Malcolm O. and Reaford H. Farley and his sisters Myrtle Hewlett and Pauline Madlom. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 11 AM until 1 PM.
