Jean C. Wasko (nee: Heege), 65 of Lorain, Ohio died early Monday morning, June 3, 2013 in her home. She was born on December 13, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Helen (nee: Hauth) and Lester John Heege. Mrs. Wasko moved to Parma, Ohio where she grew up; she made her home in Lorain for many years. She was a member of Madeline Chapter, O. E. S., Vermilion, Ohio. Mrs. Wasko was very active with the Rainbow Girls, serving as a mother advisor, volunteer with the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts. She was the neighborhood mom who loved video and computer games; she did cross stitching and crocheting. Mrs. Wasko is survived by sons, Steve A. (Kim) Wasko of Belton, Missouri, Andrew J. ( Allison Shrader) Wasko of Lorain and Kris A. Wasko who provided her home care while she made her home with him, daughters, Meredith J. (nee: Mayfield) (Bruce) Cancasci of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Melanie J. Mayfield of Alum Creek, West Virginia and grandchildren, Nicholas, Mollie, Katie, Aidan, Chloe, Zachary, Blake and J. C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Andrew Wasko in 2008. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 5 PM until 8 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052 where funeral services will follow at 8 PM with The Rev. Larry Byerly officiating.
