Gloria Mae Ward

Gloria Mae Ward (nee: Garcia), 78 of Lorain, Ohio died Friday afternoon, October 11, 2013 in the Regency Medical Center, Middleburg Hts., Ohio following a short illness. She was born to the late Margaret Gladys (nee: Ritchey) and Serafin Garcia on October 16, 1934 in White Plains, New York. When she was five she moved from White Plains to Lorain where she made her home for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and avid reader who loved God, her family and all people. She attended the Cathedral of Life, North Ridgeville, Ohio. Mrs. Ward loved cooking for her family and collecting eagles. She was a benefactor to many organizations. Mrs. Ward is survived by her sons Stephen (Patty) Ward of Arizona, Barney Ward of Lorain and Kenneth (Jen) Ward of Norwalk, Ohio, her daughters, Bambi (Bill) Hunter of Oregon, Karen Linden, Chrystal Ward, both of Lorain, Marie (Louis) Longbrake of Florida and Naomi (Todd) Reynolds of Lorain, her brothers, Jack Ritchey, Jr. of Lorain and Timothy Garcia of California, sixteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1986 by her husband, James Robert Ward to whom she was married for thirty six years. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5 PM until 8 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11 AM with Pastor Mike Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio.
