George H. Wadge, 84 of Lorain, Ohio died Saturday, May 23, 2015 in his home. He was born on March 18, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Jesse Mabel (nee: Crease) and Cephas John Wadge. George graduated in the 1949A class of Collinwood High School where he played the oboe in the band. George earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Ohio State University where he was a member and officer of Acacia Fraternity. He furthered his education for guidance counseling as a post graduate at Kent State University. George served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict in the Submarine Service on the U.S.S. Croaker 246. In 1959, George moved from Cleveland to Lorain. He was employed by the Lorain School District as a teacher at Hawthorne Jr. High and Admiral King and a Guidance Counselor in Irving Jr. High. George was a member and Past Master of Charleston Mason Lodge, Lorain, member of Ely Masonic Lodge, Vermilion, Past Illustrious Master of Lorain Council, member of Elyria Council, Past High Priest of P.B. Morgan Chapter, Past Commander of Lorain Commandery and Sir Knight of Holy Grail Commandery, Lakewood. He was a Knight of the York Cross of Honor and member of Ohio Priory #15. George is a member, present and Past Patron of Queen City Chapter of the Eastern Star and member of Ruby Chapter, OES, Hardy, Arkansas. He was a Life Member of Wilson Lodge, Hardy, Arkansas, North Central Council #223 Allied Masonic Degree. George was a Past President of Golden Crescent High Twelve Club and International Trustee for High Twelve Wolcott Foundation at George Washington Umniversity. George was also a member of the Holy Grail Commandery Honor Guard, Al Rey Grotto and the Ancient Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Society, Valley of Cleveland. He was a life member of the NRA. George was a treasurer of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Cherokee Village, Arkansas and a friend of the First Congregational Church, Lorain. He was a life member of the NAACP, Lorain. The highlights of George's life centered around his time with his family, mostly enjoying his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. George officiated at the wedding of granddaughter, Geordynne Briches and Vispi Umranwala. He enjoyed his Masonic affiliation, life on the lake in Cherokee Village, Arkansas and his trips to Europe, Japan and the tiger cruise from Hawaii with his son, Roland. George is survived by his wife, Ellen Seaman Wadge, his children, Dana G. Wadge of Mentor, Ohio, Jacqueline Jane Wadge Murdock of Wellington, Ohio and Capt. Roland (Lisa) Wadge of Amherst, Ohio, his beloved grandchildren, Geordynne (Vispi) Briches Umranwala of Los Angeles, Samantha and Bridgette Wadge of Amherst, Reese Murdock of Los Angeles, Kohl Murdock of Chicago, Dana Joseph and Genevieve Wadge of Mentor and Colton Wadge of Geneva and great grandson, Zai Umranwala. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roland Stanley and sister, Evelyn Stanley Krueger. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 4 PM until 7 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeal Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052 where Eastern Star services will follow at 7 PM conducted by Queen City Chapter, OES and Masonic Services at 7:30 PM by Ely Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11 AM in the First Congregational Church, 423 Washington Avenue (at Fourth Street), Lorain, Ohio 44052 with Rev. Karen Farthing, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorail Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio with full military honors by the Louis Paul Proy Chapter, No. 20, Lorain.
