Gene Harkless

Gene Harkless, 73 of Lorain, Ohio went to be with the Lord late Monday evening, January 3, 2011 in St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake, Ohio following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 8, 1937 in Orgas, West Virginia to the late Pruda (nee: Mullins) and Leff Harkless. Mr. Harkless moved in 1956 from Sylvester, West Virginia to Lorain where he made his home for the remainder of his life. He retired as a greaser at Ford Motor Company, Avon Truck Plant following forty years of employment. He loved working on cars and fishing. Mr. Harkless is survived by his sons, Bobby (Belinda) Harkless and Jerry Harkless, both of Lorain, his daughter, Bonita Harkless of Lorain, his brothers, Charles and Cary, his sisters, Anna, Juanita, Judy and Phyllis, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harkless was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Christine (nee: Kelly) to whom he was married for fifty two years and his brothers. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 6, 2010 from noon until 2 P. M. in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 2 P. M. with The Rev. Mr. Jay Roller, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Lorain officiating and burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio. On line condolences may be made to freyfuneralhome.com.
