Evelyn J. 'Ebbie' Smith

Evelyn J. 'Ebbie' J. Smith (nee: Bevins), 58 of S. Amherst, Ohio died August 6, 2014 in her home. She was born on March 12, 1956 in Lorain, Ohio. Ebbie was a 1974 graduate of Admiral King High School, Lorain. She studied for three years at LCCC. She resided in Lorain until 1993 when she moved to S. Amherst. For five years she was a cashier for Convenient Express, Amherst; currently, Ebbie worked with the Visiting Angels. She was a member of Eversprings Missionary Baptist Church, Amherst. She enjoyed bowling and nursing. Ebbie was an avid bingo player who enjoyed life to the fullest. Her life centered around her son, Michael of whom she was proud of his naval career and many life accomplishments. She is survived by her father, Everett M. Bevins of Pikeville, Kentucky, her son, Michael Joseph Christian Smith of Savannah, Georgia, brother, Randy E. (Karyn) Bevins of Amherst, sisters, Merry Kay Crum of Tavares, Florida and Sue (Tim) Logdson of Lorain, many nieces and nephews, one great nephew and one great niece. Ebbie was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda June (nee: Parker) Bevins in 1993 and a brother, Jerry Ray Blackford who died in 2013. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2 PM until 5 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 1 PM with Rev. Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp., Ohio.
