Elizabeth "Betty" Glaser (nee Readman) passed away on July 30, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph. She was born on March 2, 1925 to the late Kate and Albert Readman in Bedford, England where she spent her life with her family. Elizabeth fell in love with an American soldier, Francis Glaser, during World War II and became his bride. She left her family in England and moved to Lorain in 1945. Elizabeth and Francis were married for 65 years. Elizabeth worked at May Company/Kaufmann's Department Store for 15 years before retiring from the dress department in 1993. She was a long time member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Lorain. Her enjoyments in life were cooking for her family, letter writing to her large family in England, playing the piano, listening to music and attending local concerts, especially the many musical school concerts in which her grandchildren performed. She loved knitting especially the many baby booties which she made for family and friends. Elizabeth also enjoyed quilting. After her beloved husband passed away she was lovingly cared for by Adult Comfort Care Services, Inc. of Vermilion. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Dennis, daughter, Elizabeth Hobson and husband, Rick, granddaughter Elizabeth (Colin) Stipe, grandsons, Ryan, Kevin and Tommy, sisters, Joan Perfect, Vera Johnson, Ella Readman, Mavis West, Carol Steed and Yvonne Brice and brothers, Rowland and Colin all living in England. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond and Colin and brothers, Albert and Terry. A private graveside service will be given by Reverend J. Mark Hobson in Calvary Cemetery arranged by the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, Lorain. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH.
