Doris L. Bihary, born in July, 1933 was a California girl, a cheerleader who fell in love with a Lorain native roller skating twin serving in the Air Force, Tim Bihary. After his discharge, the couple returned to Lorain where Doris excelled at being the best wife and mother ever. When the boys started school Doris began working as an office aid at Irving Elementary School and her career with Lorain City Schools began. She transferred to the Administration Building, where she could be seen riding her motorcycle to and from work. Her day began at 5:00 a.m. and continued into the late evening, assuring that all students had caring substitute teachers when their regular teacher was absent so that the schools would continue running efficiently from the staff through the aides and the custodians. She loved her job where she truly cared about each and every one she spoke to. As one teacher stated "Doris was one of a kind. With her raspy voice she would help you when you needed to take the day off. Just hearing her voice you knew everything would be taken care of. She was LCS." Another shared "she was always cheerful and personal. Calling off was not just a phone call, but warm conversations about family". Doris loved going on vacation with her husband and family. Adventures to Virginia Beach and Miami Beach and favorite tropical destinations of Aruba, the Bahamas, and Cancun made for cherished memories. Just sitting on the beach, reading and tanning were her favorite activities, However she did swim with the dolphins during her last trip to Florida. After retiring, Doris spent her time at home working on her garden, talking with her cockatiel Tiki and visiting her long-term next door neighbors, her sister-in-laws, Helen and Jean Bihary and their yorkie Misty. But by far the highlight of her week was league bowling night. Her high game this year was a 152! She also was very competitive when playing Wii bowling with the other residents when she lived at Anchor Lodge and Independent Village. Doris passed away peacefully and was reunited with her husband Tim (Harold) on December 26, 2013. She will be forever loved by her children and their families, Diane (Larry) Jones, Janet (Don) Pavlic, Terry , Danny (Dawn), her grandchildren, Eric (Brittany), Adam, Drew, Paige and Camryn, and her two month old great-granddaughter, Faith. She will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law Mary Jean Bihary, many nieces and nephews, aunts Maxine and Ruth, of Napa, California, and her numerous friends. The family will receive friends at the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home West Erie Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052 from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 6th. The memorial service will be held on January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain. As a lasting remembrance of Doris' love of gardening and the beach, the family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to plant a garden at Lakeview Beach in her and Tim's memory. Donations can be sent to Lorain County Metro Parks, 12882 Diagonal Rd, La Grange, Ohio 44050. Please define that they are given in memory of Doris Bihary for Lakeview Park Rose Garden.
