David O. Maiden, 73 of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, formerly of Lorain, Ohio died Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2013 in EMH Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 7, 1940 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Roberta (nee: Freeland) Maiden-Bishop and Glen Maiden. Mr. Maiden graduated from Elyria High School and attended two years at Ohio State University. Later he proudly served our country in the US Army where he was stationed in Korea He worked at Thew Shovel, Lorain, Marion Power Shovel, Marion, Ohio, Elwell Parker, Cleveland and York International, Elyria. He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, Amherst, Ohio. Mr. Maiden was a member of Black River Masonic Lodge No. 786, F&AM and its Fellowcraft Club; the Scottish Rite Society, Valley of Cleveland, Lorain Council; the Holy Grail, No. 70 and Queen City Chapter, No. 66 OES, where he served as a Past Patron. He had a fervent love for all of his family. Mr. Maiden had a passion for home remodeling, doing projects with his brothers and gardening. He loved animals, especially his dogs; he was involved with Little League, 4H and Scouting. Mr. Maiden is survived by his wife, Nancy L. (nee: Rickard) Maiden to whom he was married for forty seven years, his son, Norman G. Maiden of Columbus, Ohio, his daughter, Anita L. Maiden of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, brothers, Thomas (Sue) Maiden of Arizona, Lawrence (Joanne) Maiden of Elyria and Sheridan (Sharon) Maiden of Amherst, sisters, Roxanne (Gary) Deidrick of Elyria and Roberta Dietrick of Canaan, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Seth. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 6 PM until 9 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052 during which Eastern Star services will be conducted by Queen City Chapter at 7:30 PM followed by Masonic Services conducted by Black River Lodge. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11 AM in Heritage Presbyterian Church; 515 Leavitt Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001 with Rev. Adrienne K. Lloyd, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio with full military honors conducted by the Honor Guard of American Legion, Post 30 and VFW, Post 451, Lorain.
