Barbara V. Smith, 78 of Lorain, Ohio died Wednesday, October 11, 2017. She was born on January 5, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Lillian & Murray Keener. Mrs. Smith was a member of Sheffield Church of God, Sheffield Lake, Ohio where she sang in the choir, played the guitar and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the church's Autumn Lites and Auxiliary. Mrs. Smith did the church's candy making project. She had a passionate love of baking and planting flowers. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of sixty one years Frank Smith to whom she was married on July 10th, her sons, Frank (Allison) Smith of Waksman, Ohio, Johnny Smith and Xyane O. Alexander/Jody A. Smith, both of Lorain, brother, Marvin Keener of West Virginia, sister, Beatrice ((Mike) of Baltimore, Maryland, grandchildren, Selena, Derek and Jenna and great granddaughter, Jaclyn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry and Jackie Ray, brother, Ken and sister, Mary. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2 PM until 4 PM and from 6 PM until 8 PM in the Sheffield Church of God, 2280 Abbe Road, Sheffield Lake, Ohio 44054 where funeral services will be on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11 AM with Rev. Harold Hylton, associate pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio. The Walter A.
