Avonelle Marie 'Avie' Ellwood

Avonelle Marie 'Avie' Ellwood (nee: Smith), 76 of Olmsted Twp., Ohio formerly of Sheffield Lake, Ohio died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at St. John Medical Center, Westlake, Ohio following a sudden illness. She was born on May 13, 1937 in Willard, Ohio to the late Marjorie J. (nee: Cole) and Ralph Lee Smith. Mrs. Ellwood lived in Sheffield Lake from 1940 until she made her home in Olmsted Twp. five years ago. She loved spending time with her family who were the center of her life and her cat, Midnight. Mrs. Ellwood is survived by her son, John Franklin (Pam) Ellwood of Uniontown, Ohio, her daughters, Constance M. Cohoon of Bronson, Florida, Mary Ann (Ron) Ray of Olmsted Falls, Ohio and Kathryn M. (Dean) DeWitt of Spencer, Ohio, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Ellwood on June 21, 1987, her brothers, Richard Lee Smith, Donald L. Smith and John M. Smith and her sister, Ruth A. Howells. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5 PM until 8 PM in the Walter A, Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052. Funeral services will in the funeral home on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio.
